Gabriel looked into the mirror at the stranger staring back at him. He didn’t know what to do with himself. He had had to go into school on Monday and make out like nothing had changed. He had scraped his hair back into its side parting, worn his usual clothes and disappeared behind the mask of Gabriel Gray version one. Now, for the first time in a week he was back in fashionable clothes, without his glasses and with his hair waxed into a lazy style just like Mohinder had done at Crease. Tonight, he was going to do it. He was going to kiss Mohinder Suresh, and if he didn’t want him, then….then…..
“Then I’ll just jump into the East river.” He mumbled, looking at his watch. It was 7, and he had been assured by Naz that you never turned up on time. His father was playing cards with his buddies in the apartment upstairs, Naz was at her cousin’s wedding. He was on his own. He looked at his watch again. 7.01.
He started to take off his clothes. His head was pounding so he would just have a little nap and then get going at about 7.45. Then he’d be thirty minutes late, surely that was enough. He settled onto the bed, pulling a comforter over him. Just a quick nap, and then he’d be ready to face them.
Gabriel blinked and let his eyes adjust to the….dark? He jumped up and scrambled for his watch on the nightstand.
“Shit!” It was 8.50, and he was definitely no longer fashionably late. He grabbed his pants and paused with one leg inside, telling himself to slow down before he ripped something. He carefully dressed, trying to keep his breathlessness under control, and grabbed his wallet and keys as he took one last look in the mirror. He looked like he had looked in the clothes store. His hair was the same, the clothes were the same, and this niggled him. Did he really want to look exactly the same as Mohinder had dressed him? Wasn’t that a little weird?
He recalled some word that Naz always used when she was unsure about an outfit. Accessorise? Gabriel went to his wardrobe and pulled out an old shoebox. He sought out a small box covered in dusty red velvet and flipped it open. His mother’s silver crucifix, the only thing he had of hers, glinted back at him. His father didn’t know he had it. After Mom had died his aunt Maria had handed it over, saying that he should at least keep something. He fixed it around his neck, and checked in the mirror one last time. The chain was made for a woman so it was a little short, but it would do. One more deep breath, and Gabriel strode out of his room, out of the apartment and towards the train station.
The pointlessness of having Wes’s address written down occurred to Gabriel as he turned the corner and heard the cacophony coming from number 37. The lights were all on in the house, fairy lights hung in the trees and over the front porch and an oversized and rather un-seasonal neon snowman was planted on the lawn. His stomach flipped as he contemplated having to negotiate a path through the crowds, but he assumed that they would all be too self-involved to even notice him. He marched over to the house and headed for the loudest part, feeling slightly sick but aching to see Mohinder.
“Do you think he’s coming? Maybe something’s wrong, maybe I should call him.” Mohinder spoke almost to himself as he scanned the room for the fiftieth time since arriving. Lizzy rolled her eyes for the forty-ninth time since he had arrived.
“He’ll be here, just shut up and get me a drink!” She thrust a pink plastic champagne glass at him and started to throw some shapes to the booming soundtrack, with seemingly little regard for safety.
Mohinder huffed and headed into the kitchen, pushing past an almost immovable wall of teenagers, some of whom were pinching his backside and giggling. He made it to the fridge and pulled out a beer and a half empty bottle of Champagne. Hell, he’d just take her the whole thing, he parents could afford it. Mohinder took another glance around but still no Gabriel. He wondered whether he’d missed his chance completely and all of a sudden he didn’t feel in the party mood. He turned sadly to take Lizzy her drink, contemplating how soon he could leave.
Gabriel made his way along the side of the house where there were scattered pods of party guests chattering and holding their plastic cups. Without his glasses he couldn’t see anyone clearly who was more than a few meters in front of him, but the blurriness was actually kind of comforting. He paused as he approached the garden, looking for Mohinder, Wes, anyone he knew. It seemed like the entire school was here, and people were looking at him, probably wondering what loser would come to a party by themselves.
“Hey sexy, where do you think you’re going?”
Gabriel felt hands gripping his waist and spun round to see a wobbly looking Monica Grant. She wrinkled her brow and looked like she was going to throw up.
“Gabriel?! What the….” She looked at her friend who was staring at Gabriel like he was a cream cake.
“Have you see Wes?” He said nonchalantly.
“Er…no, I…Hey do you wanna dance?” She pouted at him, trying to look sexy but failing miserably.
Gabriel smirked. “Monica, like I told you in second grade, I’d rather go play with the boys.” He turned and walked around the back of the house, looking for a way inside. He pushed through the throng blocking the French windows and stepped into the packed kitchen where the music was blaring. A flash of blonde hair moved at the back of the pack and he locked eyes with Wes, smiling at him.
Wes didn’t take his eyes off Gabriel as he shrugged off the guy yelling in his ear and tried to get to him through the crowd. After a few abortive attempts to cut through Wes went to the stairs and flicked his head at Gabriel as if he wanted him to follow. Gabriel looked around, and when he glanced back to Wes the other boy was laughing, nodding and pointing at him, mouthing “Yes, you!”
Gabriel shuffled past the bumping and grinding bodies, feeling a hand on his ass and whipping round trying to pinpoint where it had come from. People were starting to realise it was him and whisper to each other. Pretty girls who had previously breezed past him in the school hallways like they would a homeless guy or a pool of vomit were suddenly staring at him. He focused on Wes again and followed as the boy ran upstairs.
Wes turned onto a corner of the landing and waited. As Gabriel reached the top of the stairs and saw him he ducked into his room, quickly checking that no-one was watching. Gabriel followed and saw the door ajar but didn’t know whether to go in. Eventually Wes stuck his head out and beckoned him in silently.
The room wasn’t what Gabriel had expected. It was tidy for one thing, with dark wood furniture and a royal blue bedspread which looked much too grown up for the scruffy haired boy who slept under it. Gabriel pressed the door shut behind him. “Hey..” he offered. “Happy Birthday.” He squinted at Wes, there was something strange about him. He was quiet and breathing heavily.
Wes stepped forward, reducing the gap between them. He was a few inches shorter than Gabriel and still wouldn’t meet his gaze. His face was flushed and the nonchalance he usually displayed was gone. Gabriel caught their reflection in a long mirror on the wall and realised how physically close they were. “Wes, are you okay?” He asked, trying to break the tension.
“Yeah, yeah I’m good, thanks for coming!” Wes backed off a little, ruffling his hair self-consciously. “So, you find it okay? Are you having a good time?”
“Erm, yeah, I only just got here. Do you wanna go down and…get a drink?” Gabriel searched Wes’s face for a purpose, he was just standing, staring at him.
“You look…different.” Wes half-whispered and stepped closer towards him. Gabriel’s heart started to race. “He said you did. He said you were hot.” Wes sniggered at himself.
“Who said that?” Gabriel suddenly remembered he was really here to see Mohinder and wondered where he was.
“Mohinder said. He told my sister you were smoking hot.” Wes smiled a little but not enough for Gabriel’s liking. Before he knew what was happening he felt Wes press against him, kissing him hard with a closed mouth. He pushed him back, his eyes wide with surprise and saw the boy grinning, dragging the back of his hand across his lips.
“What are you doing?” Gabriel panted as Wes advanced on him slowly, placing one hand on his hip and the other on his back as if they were about to dance.
“Come on, it’s okay.” Wes whispered, pushing his erection into Gabriel’s leg “It’s okay, I like you, let’s just…have some fun.”
“No, Wes, what are you…you’re not…you’re straight!” Gabriel pushed gently against Wes’s shoulders, not wanting to be aggressive but feeling a kick of self-preservation. It was a trick. It had to be a trick.
Wes just looked back at him with wide shining eyes. “I thought you knew…Come on, I’ve been acting like a loved up little puppy!”
Gabriel searched his memory – they had studied together a lot, always in Gabriel’s room, but he had never noticed anything he thought of as out of the ordinary. Having said that the only real friend he’d had for years was Naz, and she was always ruffling his hair, hugging him, slinging her arm around him…Oh God. “You were flirting with me…” he murmured.
Wes moved back towards him, not used to being rejected. “Come on Gabriel, what you don’t like me? Just kiss me then, come on it’s my birthday.” He stroked down Gabriel’s side, tilting his head up to him and fluttering those sandy eyelashes.
Gabriel looked up and saw himself again in the mirror. He looked bigger somehow, taller, more imposing. He looked at Wes start to dry hump his leg and something exhilarating started to flow through him. With Mohinder he had felt so timid and malleable, being positioned and posed and told what to do. He looked down at Wes, his soft blue eyes blinking back at him, and knew he could be in control. He was the one who had nothing to lose, the one who could dominate. He took the boy tentatively by the shoulders and manoeuvred him around, pressing him against the bedroom door and leaning in, letting Wes make up the gap that still existed between them to claim his lips. He could feel Wes’s eager hands responding to the proximity, grasping at him as tongues brushed against each other and sent tiny bursts of electricity through both of them. Gabriel tried to move his hands down to Wes’s waist and accidentally stroked over his erection with the back of his hand. When he heard Wes moan gently he unzipped his fly slowly and started palming his cock through the thin cotton of his boxer shorts.
“More, more, please. Oh please Gabriel.” Wes was breathless and pleading and this turned Gabriel on more than he cared to admit. He’s begging, Gabriel thought. For something so stupid, something he could do himself. He slipped his hand inside Wes’s boxer shorts and began making long, slow strokes, twitching slightly when he felt wetness on his palm but not stopping. He was finding it difficult to gauge what felt good for Wes, he was quiet and just stood with his eyes screwed closed whimpering softly. He also wasn’t used to doing this in this position, stood up and jerking forwards instead of back. Gabriel had a brainwave and pulled Wes away from the door with his free hand. He stood behind him and continued stroking. Wes opened his eyes and Gabriel realised that they were now facing the mirror, their reflection like a movie playing before them. Seeing himself being jerked off from behind sent a shiver down Wes’s spine and his moans got louder. “Oh God, I’m gonna come…Gabriel….” The boy’s breathing became ragged and he tensed, digging his fingers into Gabriel’s hips as the pleasure overtook him.
Gabriel watched as Wes came in his hand, staring at the image in the mirror as if it were someone else. He let go of Wes and lifted his hand, gasping quietly as the boy took it and started licking hungrily. He forced his fingers into Wes’s mouth as if it were his idea in the first place and kept the dark look on his face as Wes watched them both in the mirror. Gabriel was harder than he had ever been in his life. He shifted a little and saw Wes smile. He turned to face Gabriel and slowly went to his knees, shuffling them both round so they were at an angle to the mirror. He’s going to watch himself blow me, thought Gabriel as Wes’s deft fingers undid the slide catch on his pants and pulled them and his boxers down. Gabriel let his head fall back on his shoulders, a million thoughts rushing through it, none of them saying ‘Stop’ or ‘Wait’. He had never felt this primal instinct, this need to come before. Before tonight he wondered if sex something he ever really wanted. Now he didn’t think he could stop if a train hit him.
Wes smiled as he saw Gabriel’s thick cock bounce up and gently held it still by placing the tips of his fingers just in front of Gabriel’s balls. He let his bottom lip drag down the smooth skin and watched his reflection as he sat the tip just inside his mouth and brought his lips together, spreading pre-cum over them. Gabriel sighed as Wes rolled his hot tongue over the head of his cock and took it into his mouth. He instinctively ran his fingers through Wes’s scruffy blonde hair and made a fist with his other hand, trying to stay his orgasm. No-one had ever touched him this way before and he had no idea how long he could last, whether he would come at all, and whether Wes would swallow or spit. He prayed that whatever happened his clothes would be okay.
Wes started to bob his head, working up a rhythm. He had his warm hands flat on Gabriel’s ass which kept his head close to his groin and his dick deep in his throat. He hummed as he sucked, running through every trick he had learned since he had first tried this with a friend of his sister’s a few months ago; flicking his tongue against the vein and over the slit; hollowing his cheeks and letting the head rest on the back of his tongue as he swallowed. He pulled away, holding Gabriel’s cock at the shaft. “Look at us.” He whispered, staring into the mirror as he continued sucking.
Gabriel looked at Wes’s reflection, his shining pink lips sliding up and down on his cock, his thumbs tracing tiny circles over Gabriel’s hip bones. Gabriel started to thrust, his hands firm on the back of Wes’s head as he fucked his mouth, never taking his eyes off the mirror image. Wes was emitting high pitched moans and digging his nails into Gabriel’s hips again. With one last look at their reflection Gabriel came hard, clenching his fists into Wes’s hair. He panted loudly and moaned as he saw Wes lean back and gulp on his come, his debauched mouth hanging open and his eyes wet.
Dressing himself, Gabriel looked for a sign that Wes was okay. He felt guilty at being aggressive with him, it wasn’t him at all. He put out a hand to help Wes up and pulled the boy to his feet. He half expected Wes to punch him for treating him this way but instead he held him gently letting his head fall onto Gabriel’s shoulder. “I loved that.” He said, suddenly sounding so young and deferential. He looked up at Gabriel with his eyes wide. “Do you wanna fuck me? I’ll let you.”
Gabriel swallowed. He did want to fuck him. He wanted to hold him down and use him, thrust deep inside him until he screamed his name. He wanted to see him naked, begging, on his hands and knees. The thoughts running through Gabriel’s head scared him. Even when he had fantasised about sex he had never been the dominant one, he never thought for a second anyone would actually submit to him. But here was Wes, the school heart throb, nuzzling his neck and telling him straight that he could have him, take him in the most complete way. “I er…I can’t right now.” He managed, rubbing Wes’s back tenderly.
Wes giggled. “No, not now, I mean…in future. Another time.”
“Yeah.” Gabriel nodded, telling himself as well as Wes. “Yeah I want to.” He didn’t know how long he was supposed to stand here holding Wes. He liked the feel of someone as strong as him in his arms but he was anxious not to let his ultimate prize get away. “Wes…” He felt terrible even asking after what they had just done but he couldn’t help himself. “Is Mohinder…is he here?”
To Gabriel’s relief Wes giggled again. “I was wondering how long it would take you to ask. He’s downstairs with my sister. You should go while I clean up, I don’t think he’ll hang around if he thinks you’re not here.” Wes let go of Gabriel, walking towards the bathroom.
Gabriel reached for the door handle, making a mental note to wash his hands in the kitchen before he saw Mohinder. Just as he was about to leave Wes re-appeared at the door of his en suite.
“Gabriel. Wait.” Wes wandered back into the room, holding a towel. “Just be careful with Mohinder okay? I know he seems like a nice guy but…just be careful.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you’re not exactly the first guy he’s done this with. He had you modelling stuff right? Told you how gorgeous you were, told you what to wear?”
Gabriel nodded, wishing he wasn’t hearing this but experiencing a distinct lack of surprise.
“It’s kind of his thing. Just don’t get too close to him okay? He’s not going to….” Wes sighed, noting the look of sadness on Gabriel’s face. “Once he’s got what he wants he’ll move on.”
Gabriel shook his head. Wes was just jealous, that was it. “I don’t believe you, he wouldn’t…he’s been really kind to me and he hasn’t asked for anything. He’s not like that.”
Wes gave a sympathetic half smile. “Just ask him about Michael, okay? See how he reacts.”
Gabriel turned to go, angry that Wes could say such terribly things about Mohinder, and angrier still that he believed him.
“Oh and Gabriel…” Wes walked up to him, looping his arms gently round his waist and kissing him sweetly on the cheek. “I liked you before.”
Gabriel hugged him, kissing his forehead softly. He wished it could be enough to just stay here with Wes, kissing, touching, experimenting. He liked the control, the feeling that he could stop and start when he wanted. It would be different with Mohinder, especially if what Wes said was true.
“Happy birthday Wes.” He said, closing the door behind him as he prepared too find Mohinder.
Mohinder shook his head at Lizzy, passed out with an empty bottle of champagne and a pink feather boa wrapped around her like a comfort blanket. He got up and retrieved his coat from behind the sofa where he had stashed it, away from beer spills and cigarette burns. He had only come to see Gabriel and he wasn’t here. He cursed himself for not kissing him when he had the chance, he should have known that Gabriel would feel rejected and hurt after that, he had practically sprinted out of the warehouse.
He ducked out of the back door, digging in his pockets to look for change for the train. As he was trying to read the value of the notes through the dark and the six beers he’d drunk he tripped over a body on the path and fell forwards. He felt something holding him upright and looked up at his saviour.
“You weren’t leaving without me were you?” Gabriel’s smile was wide and there was a hint of something in his face, something that wasn’t there before.
“Gabriel!” Mohinder untangled his leg from the boy on the path who hadn’t even flinched. “I thought you’d decided not to come.” He felt himself blush and looked Gabriel up and down. The outfit was the same one he had put him in at the store but he seemed…different.
“I’m sorry, I was with the birthday boy and I couldn’t get away. Are you really leaving?”
“I…I was but now you’re here I’ll stay, of course.” Mohinder was very aware that he was drunk, and horny, and that Gabriel didn’t seem to be either of those things. He was just sexy, and tall, and sexy. Mohinder swayed a little, the night air intoxicating him further.
Gabriel looked around at the battlefield. There were clusters of kids drinking on the lawn, people passed out, people kissing, oblivious to their surroundings. “Looks like things are winding down actually…..” he said.
“Well, we could go back to my place.” The words were out of Mohinder’s mouth before he had a chance to think. “I mean…no, of course you wouldn’t…”
Gabriel took a deep breath. He had come here tonight to kiss Mohinder, to finish what he had started at the photo shoot. Of course he hadn’t factored in the blowjob or the strange alter ego that had seemed to emerge during it, but…
“Okay, let’s go.” Gabriel nodded, striding off down the driveway trying not to hyperventilate.
Mohinder raised his eyebrows, jogging after him. He hadn’t expected to get Gabriel alone like this, but he wasn’t going to waste the opportunity.
